I cannot express how much I loved this book! It ticked all the boxes. I was engaged from beginning to end, and I am absolutely serious when I tell you there wasn't a single boring chapter. The plot is fast-paced, the characters are extremely well written and easy to love and sympathise with, and the story line is exciting without being too heavy or difficult to understand.

"The Selction" is a dystopian novel, in fact I felt the beginning was quite similar to "The Hunger Games" (but I wouldn't really like to compare the 2 since I couldn't even finish "The Hunger Games").

In this world, the population are divided into 'castes' with the 'Eights' being the poorest, and the 'Ones' being royalty. Our main character, America Singer is a 'Five'. The 'Fives' are artists, and in fact America is a musician and singer. Each year, a grand event called the Selection (hence the title) takes place. 35 girls across different castes are chosen to participate. The girls must compete to win the Prince's heart and become queen. If you enjoy romance, conflict, drama and high-stake situations, please do yourself a favour and read this book!

Initially, I discovered "The Selection" through a YouTube video by Haley Pham (who is quite a popular book YouTuber) - (The video in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJvK2OQslD8). After that I immediately went online and added it to my cart. As a reward to myself after receiving my O-level results, I intend to order the following books in the series.

I can't believe I'm already jumping to such a bold statement, but I truly believe this has the potential to become my favourite series of all time. I think it's absolutely perfect for anyone trying to come out of a reading slump! Please do check it out.

Love, Ann ❤️
