I picked up this book on one of my expeditions to the local library in Birkirkara, in search of something fun and easy to read. This book was exactly that, sweet and endearing, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere that made me feel like I was really part of the Song-Covey Family. A few weeks prior I had also watched Alex Meyer's review of the book's film counterpart, which piqued my curiosity even more. (https://youtu.be/wVt7YCjF1AI)
I wasn't expecting to gain much from this book, the writing is not anything out of this world, I didn't feel challenged to think or reflect deeply, but overall I do appreciate that it gave me a comforting story. Another aspect that I enjoyed, is that this book helped me to vicariously experience the "American High School Experience" which I think every girl fantasizes over at some point or another
"To All the Boys I've loved before", by Jenny Han, could be described as a romance or a drama. It follows the story of Lara-Jean, and the chaos she comes face-to-face with after her secret love letters get sent out. The book also explores the unique family dynamic between sisters.
While this book wasn't really poetic, profound or deep, Han must've done something right because I somehow find myself going back to the library, to pick up the second book in the series 😉
